Parliament passes draft law on improvement of judges selection procedure

AKIPRESS.COM - The Parliament of Kyrgyzstan passed the draft amendments to the law on Council for the Selection of Judges and on Judges Status in the first reading on Jan 29.
The bill was developed by lawmakers Tynchtykbek Shainazarov, Baktybek Sydykov and Emil Toktoshev to eliminate the contradictions in the legislation in the sphere of regulation of the Council's activities.
The draft law on judges status is aimed at improving the procedure of judges selection. The threshold score was proposed to be introduced, which will be established by the Council. A candidate for judge position who has not reached a threshold score has right to participate in other competitive selections for judges vacancies only after one year.
