Rehabilitation of former tramway depot in Almaty to be finished in 2021

AKIPRESS.COM - Rehabilitation of former tramway depot Depo Evolution Park will be completed in 2021, Head of the comfortable urban development department of Almaty Kuandyk Aitmaganbetov said.
The building was to be built for the money of investors, but no investors were found, he noted.
The JSC Astana-Kurylys NCC continues construction for the budget funds. According to the project, construction should be completed on April 30, 2021.
2.1 billion tenge were allocated for the rehabilitation from the state budget. Contractor started reconstruction of the building in July 2019.
In late October 2017, then-mayor of Almaty Baurzhan Baibek during his visit to the tram depot told about his decision to terminate the work of trams in the city. The decision was explained by poor condition of the tramway tracks and uselessness of their rehabilitation.
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev during his recent working visit to Almaty reprimanded the decision of the former mayor to terminate the trams in Almaty. the better way is rehabilitation of tramway depot, he noted.
