Turkmen citizens hold another rally in front of UN headquarters in New York

AKIPRESS.COM - On 28 June, 2020 Turkmen activists held an act of protest in front of the UN headquarters in New York, Chronicles of Turkmenistan reports. Over 10 activists gathered in the park in front of the UN headquarters and requested that Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov step down as the President of Turkmenistan.
According to one of the organizers Chemen Oraeva, the demonstration was held without any incidents. A security guard on duty at the UN came out to the protesters but after he made sure they posed no threat, returned to his post.
It should be pointed out that a similar protest march against the Turkmen authorities was also held in front of Turkmenistan's Embassy in Washington, D.C.
On 29 June Berdymukhammedov celebrated his 63rd birthday. The protests were timed to coincide with this date.
