Parliament committee passes bill on payment of compensation to parents of HIV-infected children

AKIPRESS.COM - The parliament committee for social affairs, education, science, culture and health care the passed the bill on payment of compensation to parents of children HIV infected by the fault of medical workers in the state or municipal healthcare institutions, which was initiated by MPs Dastan Bekeshev and Baktybek Turusbekov in the first reading on Feb 10.
To date, 381 children were infected with HIV/AIDS at the fault of health care workers of public or municipal medical facilities in Kyrgyzstan.
The government will pay the compensation in the amount of no less than 100,000 soms from January 1, 2022.

About 50 criminal cases were launched on this issue from 2005 to 2018.
The bill initiators proposed to collect funds by cutting the amounts of reserve funds of President, Parliament Speaker and Prime Minister by 10 million soms each and allocate funds from workers health fund of trade unions federation to the state budget.
