Batken, Sughd region governors hold talks over Kyrgyz-Tajik border conflict

AKIPRESS.COM - Batken region and Sughd region governors hold talks on settlement of the Kyrgyz-Tajik border conflict on Dec 18. During the meeting, it was noted that only relevant state bodies should work on issues related to the resolution of conflicts. The heads of regions agreed to conduct awareness raising campaign among the local population in order to prevent the escalation of the conflict.
Akram Madumarov and Rajobboi Akhmadzoda noted that according to the previous agreement the parties should not conduct any construction work on disputed sections of the state border.
Madumarov met with the locals of Kok-Tash village, who demanded to punish all those who were guilty in the conflict, as well as accelerate the work on demarcation and delimitation of state border. Batken governor replied that both parties will conduct investigation on this conflict and added that all injured will be provided assistance.
Madumarov called the heads of the Batken security agencies to facilitate the work to ensure public safety.
