Lioness dies in Almaty zoo from illness

AKIPRESS.COM - A lioness named Assol was put down in Almaty zoo, Head of the zoo Vyachaslav Banshikov told Tengrinews.kz. "The lioness died. We are carrying out examination. She had a lot of illnesses," Banshikov said.
Results of the examination will be reported, he noted.
Mayor of Almaty Bakytzhan Sagintayev earlier ordered to change the housing conditions and protection of health of the animals after inspection of the zoo.
Representatives of the zoo on July 6 reported that a giraffe named Grace died at the age of 18.
Another lioness named Simba died on June 15, 2018 after a severe illness. Ex-Chief of the zoo Erzhan Erkinbayev told that the lioness was suffering breathing problems since 2016. A 15-year-old lion also died of blood cancer on December 27, 2016.
