Batken and Sughd region governors hold talks following shootout on Kyrgyz-Tajik border

AKIPRESS.COM - Batken region governor Abdikarim Alimbaev held phone talks with governor of Tajikistan's Sughd region Rajabboi Ahmadzoda.
Discussions focused on prevention of escalation of tension on the border between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
Around 60 citizens of Tajikistan gathered in Kum-Mazar area near Kok-Tash village of Batken district to clean this disputed border area.
Kyrgyz villagers protested the move. The shots were fired from the Tajik side. The Kyrgyz side opened return fire. No casulaties are reported.
The Kyrgyz local authorities held talks with locals for stabilization of the situation.
Shootout stopped. Police forces and border guards are on the ground.
