Extreme drought forecast for Kazakhstan

AKIPRESS.COM - Insufficient level of moisture is forecast for most parts of Kazakhstan during June, according to the national weather forecaster Kazgidromet.
Severe drought is forecast for Akmola (Zhaksyn district), Aktobe (Aitekebi, Khromtau district), East Kazakhstan (Beskaragai district) and in Mangistau region (Karakiya district).
Extreme drought is predicted in Abay district of East Kazakhstan region and Amangeldy district of Kostanai region.
According to the Department of Veterinary Medicine, some 1,100 horses were killed by drought in Mangistau region as of the end of May alone. The regions have had no rain for a long time. Pastures are burning out causing fodder deficit.
