Regulator chief tells what aid was given to Batken residents affected by conflict

AKIPRESS.COM - Chairman of the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan Tolkunbek Abdygulov said the following measures were taken with regard to people affected by the recent armed attack in Batken by the banks: all loans were written off for those killed; all loans and interest were written off for those who got their homes destroyed; all loans and interest were written off for those who lost their businesses.
As for the new loans, now the NBKR is working with the Cabinet of Ministers on special program for Batken. If there is a preferential rate, it would be similar to the state program to support farmers, the government will take a part of it, and the National Bank will provide liquidity, Abdygulov said.
