Kyrgyzstan Cabinet Vice Chairman detained on bribe extortion charges

AKIPRESS.COM - Cabinet Vice Chairman and Minister of Digital Development Azamat Dyikanbaev has been detained on suspicion of bribe extortion.
The State National Security Committee said on May 20 the pre-trial investigation was launched after a foreign company carrying out the second phase of Safe City Project reported about extortion of a bribe for extenstion of the contract under the project.
The Cabinet Vice Chairman and Minister of Digital Development was detained and taken into the detention facility of the State National Security Committee.
The Pervomai district court will consider restriction measures.
Azamat Dyikanbaev was appointed Minister of Digital Development just 2 weeks ago - on May 5.
35-year-old Dyikanbaev has worked in IT sector before.
