Kyrgyz Border Service says Tajik side deliberately provoked border conflict

AKIPRESS.COM - The Border Service of the State National Security Committee of Kyrgyzstan said the Tajik side deliberately provoked the conflict on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border on April 28 and continues escalating tension.
"The water distributor Golovnoi is the strategic facility of Kyrgyzstan and it lies on the territory of Kyrgyzstan," the Kyrgyz Security Committee said after the Tajik Security Committee accused Kyrgyzstan of attempted illegal takeover of the distributor.
The facility was built by Kyrgyzstan, it added.
"Deliberately distorting historic facts, the Border Troops of the State National Security Committee of Tajikistan push civilians for bloodshed and this way demonstrate their inability and unwillingness to address issues peacefully," the statement said.
Construction of additional defense and protection facilities close to the borderline by Tajik law enforcement agencies and pushing residents of border areas for unlawful actions against citizens of Kyrgyzstan arouse concerns of the Kyrgyz side, the Committee added.
The whole responsibility for civilians, who received injuries and wounds, rests on the Border Troops of the State National Security Committee of Tajikistan. Its leadership refrains from development of measures for stabilization of the border situation, the Kyrgyz National Security Committee said.
The Border Service of Kyrgyzstan has urged its Tajik colleagues for resolution of border issues solely in the spirit of good neighborhood at the table of negotiations in line with international law and reached bilateral agreements.
