AKIPRESS.COM - Permanent population of Kyrgyzstan was 6,637,000 as of early 2021, according to the National Statistics Committee. 1/3 of the permanent population (34%) lived in urban areas and 2/3 (66%) in rural areas.
35% of the total population were children and teenagers, 57% - people of working age and 8% - people over working age.
More than 100 ethnic groups live in the country.
Kyrgyz accounted for the largest ethnic groups (4,896,000). The number of Uzbeks was 985,000 and Russians - 341,000.
