Uzbekistan, Qatar plan to launch direct flights

AKIPRESS.COM - Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Tourism and Sport of Uzbekistan Aziz Abduhakimov received the delegation of aviation authorities of Qatar.
The Qatari delegation traveled to Uzbekistan in connection with preparation of the intergovernmental agreement on air service between Uzbekistan and Qatar, discussion of launch of direct passenger flights, the Ministry of Tourism and Sport said.
Head of Department of the Civil Aviation Aviation Authority of Qatar Mohamed Faleh Al Hajri noted Uzbekistan's huge tourism potential and rich historical and cultural heritage which is of interest for people in Qatar.
Signing of the agreement on air service will give further impetus for development of bilateral cooperation and expansion of tourist and cultural exchanges, he added.
Senior Manager for Aeropolitical Affairs of Qatar Airways Salam Al Samarrie expressed interest of the Qatari air company in launch of flights to Uzbekistan and use of open skies policy in regional airports of the country to bring tourists from other Persian Gulf countries.
The sides agreed to tackle issues related to the draft of agreement necessary for its signing in the shortest possible time.
