Uzbekistan may decriminalize illegal possession and spread of religious materials

AKIPRESS.COM - Uzbekistan plans to decriminalize illegal production, possession, import or spread of religious materials, according to the draft of revised Criminal Code published for public discussion.
Failure to observe lawful demands of prison administrations, illegal production, possession, import or spread of religious materials, illegal collection, disclosure and use of information, violation of laws on religious organizations, armed forces and other crimes with low social risks will be decriminalized.
Criminal sanctions are foreseen for illegal experiments on people, illegal hospitalization to mental hospitals, illegal obstruction to conduct or participation in rallies, assemblies or demonstrations, blackmailing, illegal actions with insider information, forgery, sale of a child by a parent, obstruction to lawful work of a journalist.
The revised wording of the Criminal Code was developed by the General Prosecutor's Office together with line ministries and agencies.
