AKIPRESS.COM - Uzbekistan launched the process of emergency authorization of Russia's coronavirus vaccine Sputnik V for domestic use. The process may take 15-20 days, a committee for coronavirus containment said.
The committee considered the outcomes of the third phase of trials of Sputnik V vaccine provided by Russia.
The sanitary and epidemiological service will develop the modality of vaccination against coronavirus infection.
Vaccination will be free and will be targeted at people above 65 years, those with chronic diseases, medical workers, workers of kindergartens, schools and universities, law enforcers.
According to the Embassy of Russia in Uzbekistan, Russia will deliver 1 million doses of Sputnik V vaccine for vaccination of migrant workers.
A contract will be signed on delivery of EpiVacCorona vaccine (Vector Center) in 2021.
In early December 2020, Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia Denis Manturov delivered 100 doses of Sputnik V vaccine to Tashkent.
Besides, the third phase of trial of recombinant vaccine developed by Anhui Zhifei Longcom Biopharmaceutical is ongoing.
Uzbekistan expects also 100,000 doses of Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine through COVAX program.
