AKIPRESS.COM - Russia reckons on cooperation with Uzbekistan in use of coronavirus vaccines, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said at the meeting with Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov on February 4 in Almaty, Tass reported. Mishustin said COVID-19 situation remains uneasy, but the countries cooperate in response to coronavirus pandemic. "The real way out of the situation will be connected with start of mass vaccination of population, use of effective and safe vaccines. Russia cooperates with Uzbekistan in this," Mishustin said.
Prime Minister Mishustin expressed hope the governments of Russia and Uzbekistan will make all possible efforts to boost bilateral trade to $10 billion.
"Despite coronavirus pandemic, the bilateral trade grew by 17% in 11 months of 2020 compared to 2019 and neared $5.3 billion. Our Presidents set the task to boost it to $10 billion. I hope we will make all possible efforts to bolster bilateral trade," Mikhail Mishustin told Abdulla Aripov.
Russia is a leading trade partner of Uzbekistan, Mishustin said.
The Prime Ministers met on the eve of the meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council that will be held today. The Council will discuss various aspects of integration and functioning of the internal market of the Eurasian Economic Union.
