AKIPRESS.COM - 125 weapons were withdrawn from illegal circulation in Kyrgyzstan in 2020, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported on January 18. 2 assault rifles, 2 pistols, 35 different types of rifled weapons, 62 smooth-bore weapons, 16 gas-traumatic weapons, 4 air pistols, 4 sawed-off shotguns, 28 different types of ammunition were withdrawn.
In 2020, 92 weapons were voluntarily handed over to police. Payment of compensation for voluntarily handed over weapons ranges from 1600 to 16 000 soms depending on type of weapon, the statement said.
Firearms held by citizens can be legalized with the Ministry of Internal Affairs in case of voluntary handover, the statement said.
