Uzbekistan to build another solar photovoltaic plant in Surkhandarya region

AKIPRESS.COM - The Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan announced about start of another solar power project - phase II of the Sherabad solar photovoltaic plant.
A new project will be carried out by the Ministry of Energy under the memorandum signed between the government of Uzbekistan and the Asian Development Bank.
The project envisions construction of a 300 MW photovoltaic plant in Sherabad district, Surkhandarya region near the Sherabad I 200 MW photovoltaic plant, construction of which was announced in February 2020. The second plant is due by 2024.
The total capacity of two photovoltaic plants will make 500 MW. The plants will produce over 1.1 billion kWh of electricity and will cover around 30% of annual electricity consumption in the region. The average electricity consumption rate in Surkhandarya region makes 3.2 billion kWh.
