AKIPRESS.COM - The coverage of antiretroviral therapy has grown 2 times for the last several years in Kyrgyzstan, Health Minister Alymkadyr Beishenaliev said at the meeting with acting President Talant Mamytov on December 1.
The clinical protocols, standards, directives and guidelines for work with HIV positive people are regularly updated and introduced.
According to the findings of the last survey, almost half of HIV cases were sexually transmitted - 49%, 43% of cases were transmitted intravenously. HIV positive men made 64%, women made 36%, AIDS Center Director Umutkan Chokmorova said.
According to AIDS Center, in 2020 Kyrgyzstan applied for grant of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria for support of its HIV and TB programs in 2021-2023. The Board of the Global Fund approved the grant of more than $11 million for Kyrgyzstan on condition of increase of the government's contribution into financing of HIV and TB programs.
