Kyrgyzstan registered 850 new HIV cases in 2019

AKIPRESS.COM - 850 HIV cases were detected in 2019 in Kyrgyzstan. 70% of cases were sexually transmitted, the National Statistics Committee reported.
77 died of HIV infection in 2019, 50 of them were men. In some cases death was caused by drug overdose and other reasons. Most of them were between 30 to 50 years. The highest mortality rate from HIV infection in 2019 was reported in Osh, Chui and Jalal-Abad regions.
At present, life expectancy of HIV positive person taking antiretroviral drugs is the same as a healthy person of the same age.
