Lawyer: Atambayev started a hunger strike after being transferred to remand prison #1

AKIPRESS.COM - Former President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev was transferred to pre-trial detention center #1, his lawyer Zamir Jooshev said on October 26.
Earlier Atambayev was kept in the pre-trial detention center of the State National Security Committee.
According to his lawyer, now Atambayev is kept in the basement of detention center #1 where previously, according to Jooshev, people sentenced to death were kept.
"No one had been kept in the cell for a long while, and the heating was turned on only today. The sewage system does not work and the doors to the cell are always open," the lawyer said.
Atambayev started a hunger strike in protest, Jooshev said.
