Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan responds to outrage of Kazakhstanis over Borat 2 movie

AKIPRESS.COM - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan responded to the outrage of the Kazakhstanis over the Borat 2 movie. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the Borat 2 movie is a commercial project that provokes an official protest intentionally for better advertisement purposes.
"The people of Kazakhstan and its state symbols are mocked for provocation purposes. The note protest is meaningless as it has no recipient. The more outrage it gets, the more profit the film creators get. Gaining superprofits pushes the authors to continue the movie. In fact, the film has a clear form of racism and xenophobia. Our citizens are outraged by explicit racist remarks for a reason," the statement said.
On October 23, a group of young people came to the U.S. Consulate General in Kazakhstan on the day of the Borat 2 film release to hand over a petition to ban the movie. They protested against portraying the Kazakh culture in the movie in "such a humiliating way".
Borat 2 is a 2020 American mockumentary comedy film written by and starring Sacha Baron Cohen as Kazakhstani television personality Borat Sagdiyev. The film is the sequel to 2006's Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan.
