Former Deputy Chief of Government Staff, ex-financial police deputy chief taken into custody for 1 month

AKIPRESS.COM - Former Deputy Chief of Government Staff Bakyt Kalmuratov and former Deputy Chairman of the State Service for Combatting Economic Crimes (financial police) Emil Jamgyrchiev were placed in the State National Security Committee pre-trial detention center until November 21.
Decision was made by Pervomay district court on October 21.
They were detained by the anti-corruption service of the National Security Committee on suspicion of large-scale bribery on October 19.
In 2019, entrepreneur Emir Emilkanov accused Kalmuratov and Jamgyrchiev of extortion of bribes in response to solving the case of smuggling 80 tons of duck fillet. But Emilkanov ended up getting conditional sentence.
