Coal field mining close to petroglyphs suspended

AKIPRESS.COM - The operation of the coal field started between Kara-Suu and Alay district near the petroglyphs was suspended, head of the local department of the State Inspectorate for Technical and Environmental Safety Adilet Mokeyev said.

Bishkek university student Islam Nurdinov reported in social media ealier that coal miners in Murdash village, Alay district of Osh region, destroy petroglyphs dated to the Bronze Age.
"We saw petroglyphs a month ago. Construction of the road in the area started there. We visited the site recently and saw the petroglyphs are at the edge of destruction. If this road is enlarged, the historical monuments will be destroyed entirely," the student said.
