Uzbekistan to start production of Nike, Adidas sport shoes

AKIPRESS.COM - Production of Nike and Adidas short shoes will be launched in Andizhan region of Uzbekistan. Uzcharmsanoat Federation has signed several deals with these brands, Association Chief Fahriddin Boboev told Economic Review magazine.
"The agreement was reached with Nike and Adidas on entry into our market. Production of sport shoes will be established in Andizhan region. The plant of the SinoInternational joint venture plans to produce 3 million pairs of shoes of those brands," Fahriddin Boboev said.
Uzbekistan has enough volume of quality leather and workforce is 3 times cheaper. These advantages will allow Uzbekistan to produce more brands in future, Boboev said.
Uzbekistan seeks to become a production hub in Central Asia. It is necessary to expand georgraphy of the country's exports, he added.
