AKIPRESS.COM - Uzbekistan is not ready yet to sign a contract with Russia on construction of the nuclear power plant, Deputy Energy Minister Sherzod Hojaev said.
"We need slightly more time to prepare a contract. On one side it is bad the process protracts, but on another hand, the conditions for Uzbekistan become better with every round of of talks," the Deputy Energy Minister said.
The sides are discussing all aspects of the project in detail, the Deputy Energy Minister stated.
In October 2018, Presidents Mirziyoyev and Putin launched start of construction of the nuke plant in Jizzak region, pressing a symbolic button.
In September 2019, Rosatom Chairman Alexei Likhachev said construction of the atomic plant in Uzbekistan is planned for 2020.
Tass reported later construction of the plant is expected to start in 2022.
