AKIPRESS.COM - The Ministry of Health consolidated the statistics on coronavirus and pneumonia cases since July 17. After consolidation of these cases, the highest spike in cases was observed on July 17, Deputy Health Minister Madamin Karataev told a press briefing today.
PCR confirmed coronavirus cases are declining, he said.
Deputy Minister Karataev said several figures should be taken into account. One of them is percentage of positive tests for coronavirus.
"If we look at weekly cases and compare test results, we will see 6.1% of all tests were positive for the past week," Madamin Karataev said.
Another figure is reproductive number, which means how many people may contract coronavirus from one infected person. On June 2, this figure abruptly grew and made 1.9, on June 15 it made 2.4. Since July 18, it dropped, then on July 24 it grew again and today it makes 0.65.
"In other words, one infected person may transmit virus to half a person," Karataev explained.
