Uzbekistan increases electricity import from Turkmenistan

AKIPRESS.COM - Uzbekistan has negotiated increased electricity import with Turkmenistan, the state-run news agency UzA reported.
A rapid increase in electricity consumption is observed in Uzbekistan with reduction of generation of electricity by hydropower plants due to shortage of water resources.
After Tajikistan halted export of electricity to Uzbekistan due to dropped water level in dams of hydropower plants, Uzbekistan had to compensate the lacking amount of electricity with Turkmen imports.
Electricity import was increased since July 27.
