9 apprehended in connection with probe into partial breach of Sardoba dam

AKIPRESS.COM - Nine were arrrested in connection with the criminal probe into partial breach of the Sardoba dam of May 1 and flooding of big territories, the General Prosecutor's Office of Uzbekistan said.
Mistakes and flaws in design documentation, construction and operation are considered as main reasons of collapse of the dam.
Around $1.1 billion were spent for construction of the dam from the public budget.
9 were arrested on charges with embezzlement of public funds, power abuse, negligence, violation of safety rules.
The investigation period was extended for another 5 months.
