Health Ministry combines statistics on COVID-19 and community-acquired pneumonia

AKIPRESS.COM - The number of COVID-19 cases confirmed clinically and epidemiologically reached 10,682. 1,051 cases of COVID-19 were confirmed clinically and epidemiologically in the past 24h, said Ministry of Health spokeswoman Ainura Akmatova on July 17. "These are cases of community-acquired pneumonia, which were mentioned earlier," she explained.
According to her, two codes U07.1 and U07.2 have been introduced into the international classification of diseases. U07.1 is laboratory-confirmed COVID-19, and U07.2 is clinically-epidemiologically confirmed COVID-19.
"Earlier, many said that statistics should be combined and all cases should be under one code. Experts from the World Health Organization have entered these codes. Now, cases of community-acquired pneumonia will be coded as U07.2" she said.
