USA notifies UN about withdrawal from WHO

AKIPRESS.COM - The United States notified Secretary-General of the United Nations about their withdrawal from the World Health Organization, Secretary-General's representative Stéphane Dujarric said.
This decision will go into effect on July 6, 2021.
According to WHO rules, USA has to pay financial debt and inform the officials about their intention to withdraw the year before to leave the organization.
The United States is a WHO member state since June 21, 1948.
Secretary-General of the United Nations and WHO are reviewing whether USA follows the rules of withdrawal, Dujarric states.
President Donald Trump announced the intention to leave WHO on May 29, 2020.
