Special commission to ask for Kyrgyz-Kazakh border demarcation

AKIPRESS.COM - The Kemin town special commission plans to ask the Kyrgyz government to stretch the barbed wire along the Kyrgyz-Kazakh border.
The special commission was set up after Kemin citizens raised the problem of lack of border demarcation.
"Locals expressed concerns that the course of the river, served as line of demarcation, changes and the border line moves. Villagers say their cattle often moves to another bank of the river getting to the territory of Kazakhstan. They asked to stretch wire along the border. We visited the border section and plan to submit the request to the Prime Minister, government," chairman of the commission Kubat Mamyrov said.
In March 2020, citizens of Kemin district held a protest action. "Our local companies take gravel and stone from the banks of the river, which separates Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. After the river course changed, 1 km of the land moved to Kazakhstan," the protesters said then.
