AKIPRESS.COM - Despite Tajik authorities said the country has a stock of food products for 2 years, citizens of Tajikistan are panic-buying food products in supermarkets and bazaars after rumors about first coronavirus cases in Tajikistan. The food prices soared immediately.
Deputy Health Minister Shodikhon Jashmed told reporters today the State Material Reserves Agency has enough food reserves for 2 years ahead. Besides, the country continues importing food products, he said.
Another Deputy Health Minister Mirhomuddin Kamolzoda said an interdepartmental group was set up to stabilize panic-buying situation. "The outreach work is carried out to stop panic," the Deputy Health Minister underscored.
The Health Ministry of Tajikistan said no coronavirus cases were registered in the country. Some 1,500 are under medical observation after arrival from China, South Korea, Italy, Iran and Afghanistan. Some 320 people are quarantined.
