EU to provide €36 million to Uzbekistan for coronavirus fight

AKIPRESS.COM - President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev had a phone conversation with EU Council President Charles Michel, the Uzbek president's press service reported.
Charles Michel expressed readiness of the European Union to provide necessary support in fight against global challenge and said the decision was made to provide financial and technical assistance to Uzbekistan for that purpose.
"Today I talked to the European Council President. It was a long conversation. He said their initial assistance for coronavirus pandemic fight will make 36 million Euros - for purchase of equipment, construction. The readiness of the world community to provide support to Uzbekistan demonstrates the foreign policy is right," President Mirziyoyev said.
The sides agreed to continue active talks on the draft of the enhanced partnership and cooperation agreement to complete the process before the end of the year. The new enhanced partnership and cooperation agreement will replace the agreement on partnership and cooperation that is in effect since 1999.
