AKIPRESS.COM - The U.S. Government is ready to provide $890,000 to increase capacity of Kazakhstan in fight against coronavirus, the Ministry of Health of Kazakhstan said.
Health Minister Yelzhan Birtanov met representatives of international organizations in Kazakhstan concerning COVID-19.
"The U.S. Government is ready to provide $890,000 to Kazakhstan to increase its capacity in fight against coronavirus. These funds will be channeled through partner international organizations (World Health Organization, International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, Abt Associates Inc.)," the Health Ministry said.
The decision was made at the meeting to set up a joint project team, which will handle infectious control issues at health care organizations, increase of laboratory capacity and treatment of clinical cases.
Coronavirus was not registered in Kazakhstan so far, however the authorities launched large-scale preventive measures. All public events were cancelled, including the Victory Day military parade and armament exhibition KADEX. The movie theaters are shut down. Kazakhstan suspended flights and trains to the coronavirus affected countries, reduced the number of international flights.
