Health Minister of Kazakhstan speaks against advertisement of drugs

AKIPRESS.COM - Minister of Health of Kazakhstan Yelzhan Birtanov speaks against the advertisement of medical drugs, as it "leads to self-treatment", while the drugs should be prescribed by doctors, Vlast.kz reported.
He told journalists today that there is a ban on advertisement of drugs that are available on prescription in Kazakhstan. While medications without a prescription are allowed to be advertised, he noted.
"I am personally against advertisement of drugs on television and against self-treatment," Birtanov said.
According to him, this issue is being discussed in the new amendments on the law on advertisement.
