Condition of old snow leopard Akmoor told in rehabilitation center in Issyk-Kul

AKIPRESS.COM - Specialists told AKIpress about the condition of an old snow leopard Akmoor, which was delivered to the Nature and Biodiversity Conservation Union (NABU) in Ananievo village of Issyk-Kul region.
According to head of the rehabilitation center Urlan Sulaimanov, when the animal first came to the NABU center it was stressed and scared.
Akmoor is about 12 years old and she has no front three fangs. The animal was not eating well on the first three days after arrival to the rehabilitation center, Sulaimanov noted.
She became calm after a month of rehabilitation and started eating well, he said.
Akmoor is fed three times a day now. She is given 2-3 kg of meat without bones, the specialist said.
Akmoor was brought to Bishkek on January 11 by workers of the Nature and Biodiversity Conservation Union and specialists of the State Environmental Protection and Forestry Agency.
The leopard tried to attack livestock, but failed since it is very old and weak. Besides the animal does not have 3 fangs.
"Veterinarians examined the snow leopard. It is in good health, but just old and unable to hunt to get food. The female snow leopard will be held in the rehabilitation center, since it can't hunt," the Environmental Protection Agency said.
