Kazakhstan not ready for flood period — Interior Ministry

AKIPRESS.COM - Some regions of Kazakhstan did not prepare for a flood period, which poses high risks of flooding of 609 settlements, Liter.kz reported referring to Minister of Interior Yerlan Turgumbayev.
According to him, the country is not ready for flood period now.
The planned measures on relocation of residents to safe places are failing, he said.
"Now this work is ongoing only in North Kazakhstan, Akmola and Aktobe regions," he noted.
The most difficult situation is in Nur-Sultan, North Kazakhstan and East Kazakhstan region, Turgumbayev said.
609 settlements, 675 roads and 259 railroads are at high risk of flooding, he added.
