AKIPRESS.COM - There are about 2,000 orphans in Kyrgyzstan and 17,500 half-orphans, said Minister of Social Development Ulukbek Kochkorov in response to MP Marlen Mamataliyev's question.
The state is a parent of orphans, said Mamataliyev and suggested to take care of them.
"Orphans need good education. There are various scholarships, but in most of the cases those scholarships are won by children of officials. The orphans should be able to enter universities in Kyrgyzstan without exams," Mamataliyev suggested.
