Control over Kyrgyz ambassadors abroad tightened: Jeenbekov

AKIPRESS.COM - Consultations with ambassadors of Kyrgyzstan abroad were held for the first time in the past 12 years, President Sooronbai Jeenbekov said at the parliament on Feb 20.
Precise instructions were given at those consultations, one of them to improve the protection of rights of Kyrgyz citizens abroad, support them comprehensively. Development of environmental and economic diplomacy was also highlighted, he said.
Ambassadors are now obliged to report on the work done annually.
"Before the ambassadors just wasted 3-4 years abroad. Now we won't just sit and wait for them, they will have certain tasks to do in their 4-year term. They will be reporting on the work done annually, and then we'll see," Jeenbekov.
