AKIPRESS.COM - President of Kazakhstan Kasym-Jomart Tokayev has made a statement on the situation in Kordai district, Jambyl region.
"The clashes and the brawl between villagers occurred last night in several settlements of Kordai district, Jambyl region. Provocateurs attempted to take advantage of the situation. There are killed and injured, unfortunately," President Tokayev said.
"I offer sincere condolences to families of those who were killed and wish the soonest recovery to those injured," the President said.
The situation is under control of police and the National Guard, he said.
The President ordered to set up a governmental commission to liquidate the consequences of the conflict in Kordai district to be led by Deputy Prime Minister Berdibek Saparbaev.
The President demanded to investigate the main reasons of the conflict, to promptly addres socio-economic and humanitarian issues.
The governmental commission together with Jambyl region administration will arrange funerals of those who were killed and to assess the size of the caused damage and to develop a plan for restoration of the property of those injured.
The President ordered to provide necessary support to families of those killed and injured.
"It is important now to calm down the people. The Assembly of Peoples of Kazakhstan, reputed local community members should be involved into this process," the President said.
The President ordered the General Prosecutor to assume a particular control over investigation of the conflict in Kordai district and to set up a special interdepartmental group for investigation.
All those guilty should be severely punished, the President ordered.
The President tasked the National Security Committee, the General Prosecutor's Office to carry out necessary investigations and to hold those calling for ethnic hatred and spreading rumors accountable.
The number of the victims of the conflict is not named. However, social media users claim around 60 were injured and taken to hospital.
The official briefing on the situation in Kordai district will be held at noon.
