Kazakhstan in top 20 countries on gold reserves

AKIPRESS.COM - The gold portfolio in the gold and foreign exchange reserves amounted to 387 tons, or about $19 billion, the National Bank of Kazakhstan said in a Telegram channel, zakon.kz reports.
According to preliminary reports of the World Gold Council, Kazakhstan is in top 20 countries in the world on this indicator.
Further realization of the priority rights to purchase gold will stimulate development of gold mining sector and allow to improve the position of Kazakhstan in the world ranking, the regulator says.
The gold reserves of Kazakhstan as of late October 2019 amounted to $29.5 billion, which is 1.6% more than the figures in the same period of the last year ($29 billion) and by 2.5% more than in September, Finprom reported earlier.
