Public hearings on construction of nuke plant in Uzbekistan to be held in neighboring countries

AKIPRESS.COM - The delegations of the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Energy, Geology and Natural Resources of Kazakhstan held talks in Tashkent.
The talks focused on bilateral cooperation in peaceful use of nuclear power, assessment of environmental impact, the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan said.
The Uzbek side provided update on the project of construction of a nuclear power plant, creation of the nuclear infrastructure and compliance with international nuclear safety norms.
According to the international norms and requirements of the International Atomic Energy Agency, public hearings will be held in Uzbekistan and the neighboring countries, Kazakhstan among them, on assessment of environmental impact in connection with operation of the atomic power plant.
The sides agreed to continue cooperation in peaceful use of nuclear energy.
