Kazakhstan to increase fines for environmental discharge by 10 times

AKIPRESS.COM - Administrative fine for violation of norms of release to the environment will increase by 10 times in Kazakhstan, Minister of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resourses Magzum Mirzagaliyev said at the session of the Parliament while presenting the new Environmental Code.
According to him, one of the areas of the given Code is updating the environmental control, or reinforcing the responsibility of citizens for repeated violation, toughening of fines, zakon.kz reported.
Minister said that citizens violate the rules on regular basis. They better pay fines than install the antipollution equipment and decrease the damage to the environment, he noted.
In this regard, the new Environmental Code offers to increase fines by 10 times and 20 times for repeated violation, Mirzagaliyev said.
