Lawmaker addresses to Prime Minister on situation over Solton-Sary protesters

AKIPRESS.COM - The cases were launched against the Solton-Sary protesters and they are summoned for questioning, said MP Ryskeldi Mombekov at the Parliament meeting on Jan 30. "The Prime Minister met with the commission after the situation at the Solton-Sary last year and promised that the protesters will be protected from the proceedings," said Mombekov.
According to him, to date the law enforcement bodies began to call for interrogation concerning the Salton-Sary events.
Lawmaker called on Prime Minister to keep his words and calm down people.
On August 5, hundreds of local people protested against the Chinese company working at the Solton-Sary gold deposit and demanded to suspend the operation. They demanded Chinese workers and special machinery to leave. Rock throwing occurred during the protests, machinery and cars were damaged. About 20 Chinese workers were reported injured.
