Government okays to pay compensation to parents of HIV-infected children

AKIPRESS.COM - The government supported the bill on payment of compensation to parents of children HIV infected by the fault of medical workers in the state or municipal healthcare institutions, which was initiated by MPs Dastan Bekeshev and Baktybek Turusbekov. To date, 381 children were infected with HIV/AIDS at the fault of health care workers of public or municipal medical facilities in Kyrgyzstan.
The government said it is ready to pay the compensation from January 1, 2022, however set the amount of the compensations at the amount of 500,000 soms instead of 100,000 soms.
The parliament adopted the draft amendments on Jan 22, 2020.
