Uzbekistan declares 2020 as year of science, education and digital economy

AKIPRESS.COM - The current 2020 year is declared the year of development of science, education and digital economy in Uzbekistan, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev said in his state of the nation address today. While talking about importance of digital economy, President Mirziyoyev said digital economy will be a priority task for the next 5 years.
Digital economy is an effective mechanism to combat corruption, the most serious problem he is concerned of, the President of Uzbekistan said.
The President noted significant successes achieved in 2019, the year of investments and social development.
Direct investments in 2019 reached $4.2 billion, this is 1.5 times or for $3.1 billion more than in 2018. The share of investments made 37% of the country's GDP.
