AKIPRESS.COM - About 200 residents of the city of Zhanaozen of Kazakhstan today came to the city administration with the demand to provide a permanent employment mainly in the oil plants, Radio Azattyk reported.
Activist Nursultan Nurumov said that some months ago people approached the local authorities repeatedly to provide jobs, but their appeals remain without result.
Those gathered today were received by head of the city. He promised to provide jobs according to the list and asked a month for consideration of the issue. However, the activist says that locals were not satisfied with this proposal and are planning to continue gathering until their demands are fulfilled.
Maksat Ibagarov, head of the city, told Azattyk that there are no vacant positions in the mining sector in the city and that the city administration is considering providing jons to unemployed people in the state bodies.
According to the official data, about 151,000 people live in the city of Zhanaozen.
