Kyrgyzstan was first state in Central Asia to partake in peacekeeping operations - Envoy

AKIPRESS.COM - Kyrgyzstan was the first state in Central Asia that partook in the peacekeeping operations, Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to UN Mirgul Moldoisayeva said. She said Kyrgyzstan has a positive experience of participation in regulation of international and local conflicts, UN peacekeeping operations and is making its contribution into reconstruction of Afghanistan, she said.
Kyrgyzstan takes an active part in UN operations having dispatched around 150 its representatives since 1998 - military personnel and law enforcers - for various UN peacekeeping missions, she said.
14 peacekeepers represent Kyrgyzstan now, she added.
"The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Kyrgyzstan is working on expansion of presence of peacekeeping troops in peacekeeping operations," Moldoisayeva stated.
