Ex-deputy mayor of Nur-Sultan among suspects on LRT case in Kazakhstan

AKIPRESS.COM - Former deputy mayor of Nur-Sultan is suspected in embezzlement of funds meant for LRT construction in the capital, head of the second department of the anti-corruption service of Kazakhstan Sergey Perov said.
More than 10 senior officials are under investigation, Perov told earlier.
The National Bank is also carrying out investigation of the legacy and validity of putting money in the Astana Bank provided by the Chinese Development Bank.
Investigation started after Astana LRT transport company requested to check the facts concerning the project.
The case is taken under a special control at the President's order, Perov added.
The damage cost to the government is estimated at more than 1 billion tenge.
